C4DT's academic director on e-ID in "Le Temps" daily newspaper

On the 4th of June, the Council of States debated the Swiss law on e-ID (Federal Act on Electronic Identification Services, LSIE). C4DT’s academic director Prof. Jean-Pierre Hubaux wrote an article on the topic for the Swiss French-language daily newspaper 'Le Temps', in which he favors state control of all e-ID processes with private sector engagement. EPFL computer scientists flag global hardware security vulnerability

Researchers in the HexHive and Parallel Systems Architecture (PARSA) laboratories of EPFL's School of Computer and Communication Sciences, in collaboration with IBM researchers, have identified a widespread computer security vulnerability affecting laptop, desktop and server hardware.

EPFL will host a section of the Cyber Defence Campus starting this spring

EPFL is committed to supporting Switzerland’s efforts in the area of cyber defence. To this end, a section of the Swiss government’s Cyber Defence Campus will be set up at EPFL this spring, when the Science and Technology division of Armasuisse opens a research unit in Innovation Park. C4DT's executive director Olivier Crochat took part in the "Infrarouge" debate on RTS

C4DT's executive director Olivier Crochat took part in the "Infrarouge" debate on the Swiss National TV channel RTS. The topic "profiles, passwords, emails: all hacked?" is largely inspired by the recent data leak named "Collection # 1-5", which exposed nearly 2.2 billion email addresses and passwords. A quarter of Swiss parliamentarians were affected by a massive theft of computer data.

Data leak in Switzerland: Interview with Jean-Pierre Hubaux - Radio - Play RTS

In this interview Jean-Pierre Hubaux, professor at EPFL, academic director of the Center for Digital Trust, is asked about the recent data leak named "Collection # 1-5": a collection of 2.2 billion unique usernames and associated passwords which is freely distributed on hacker forums and torrents. According to a RTS survey, 3.3 million Swiss electronic accounts are included.

Workshop on Security and Privacy of Wearable Devices

A growing number of wearable devices are becoming available. By their ability to measure physical activity and physiological characteristics such as heart rate, blood pressure, sleep patterns, etc., they constitute a cornerstone for the quantified self and personalized health. Yet, unavoidably, they bring a number of challenges in terms of security and privacy. This workshop will be held on Thursday, 6 December from 10:15-13:00, in room BC 410 at the EPFL.
